Cod Liver Oil = Vitamin Gold

I was never a huge fan of the cod liver oil vitamin. At least not growing up. That’s because the cod liver oil “vitamin” that mother forced down my throat on a cold steel spoon was really a stinky, slimy pile of goo, tasted like crap and made my face mutate into some grotesque alien form, if only for a few moments. I hated it. But, like most things in my life, I have since had a Mother Was Right (Again) AHA moment when it comes to the cod liver oil.

Turns out cod liver oil is extremely good for you. It contains plenty of omega-3 fatty acids and is rich in both vitamin A and D. One tablespoon can provide more than the recommended daily allowance of both vitamins. All of these nutrients can help to prevent cancer. Cod liver oil may also contain small amounts of vitamin K.

The oil that I hated more than anything as a child is now my vitamin gold.
