Cod Liver Oil Vitamin Rich

So can you get all the benefits of the cod liver oil vitamin by eating fish? Sadly no.

Fish oils supplements are not the same thing as cod liver liver oil. Fish body oils can be a good source of vitamin D if eaten in huge quantities but consumption of normal quantities will only provide you with a smidgeon of the omega 3 fatty acids found in cod liver oil. However, like many vitamins, too much can lead to toxicity. Pay attention to your daily intake and try to follow the RDA. Consult your doctor when in doubt.

There's no denying now that cod liver oil, in conjunction with a healthy diet, can be very good for you indeed. Mother was Right. Again.

Cod Liver Oil Vitamin MORE

Cod liver oil is purported to be of extreme benefit for both heart disease and the prevention of heart disease. It can improve muscle function and elasticity of blood vessels. Furthermore, it can aid in the treatment of hypertension, adult diabetes and stroke. It has been known to lower blood pressure and treat diabetes induced glaucoma. And it can improve the immune system and memory.

Those are the benefits, nutshell style. Because of the high levels of vitamins A and D, those suffering from deficiencies of these nutrients should definitely consider making a cod liver oil vitamin part of their daily routine.

Cod liver oil can be found in liquid form many places vitamins are sold. It comes in many different flavors now and is much better tasting than the stinky, slimy cod liver of yore. It also comes in softgel form for those of us for whom the liquid may "bring back" just a little too much of a Mommy Right Memory.

Vitamin D is important for children because it helps to build strong bones. It also helps to prevent osteoporosis in adults.

Omega-3 fatty acids are important for the development of the brain and nervous system, another essential for children, and can treat inflammation in the body.

Vitamin A, also called retinol, helps with eyesight and has antioxidant properties that help to prevent tissue and cellular damage. It also keeps skin and mucous membrane cells healthy.

Cod liver oil can be topically applied to treat common house burns or wounds. Taken orally, it helps maintain healthy skin and minimizes wrinkles.

Cod Liver Oil = Vitamin Gold

I was never a huge fan of the cod liver oil vitamin. At least not growing up. That’s because the cod liver oil “vitamin” that mother forced down my throat on a cold steel spoon was really a stinky, slimy pile of goo, tasted like crap and made my face mutate into some grotesque alien form, if only for a few moments. I hated it. But, like most things in my life, I have since had a Mother Was Right (Again) AHA moment when it comes to the cod liver oil.

Turns out cod liver oil is extremely good for you. It contains plenty of omega-3 fatty acids and is rich in both vitamin A and D. One tablespoon can provide more than the recommended daily allowance of both vitamins. All of these nutrients can help to prevent cancer. Cod liver oil may also contain small amounts of vitamin K.

The oil that I hated more than anything as a child is now my vitamin gold.
